The terms for text messages from Center, and from businesses through Center.

01Our text programs

These terms apply to text messages (SMS, MMS and iMessage) that Center sends, and that businesses send to their customers through Center. They add to the Terms of Service.

  • Center texts: texts from Center about your account, sign-in, invite, requests and service, and the check-ins, suggestions and offers described where you agreed.
  • Center booking texts: texts about a booking or request you make with a business on Center, including that business’s replies, sent through Center. They carry no marketing.

02Your consent

We text you only after you agree. You agree by tapping the button beside a disclosure that says which texts you’ll get, or by checking a box that is never checked for you. If you text us first, we reply to your message and ask you once whether you want our texts; only an explicit YES counts as agreeing. Consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase. Agreeing to one program doesn’t enroll you in another. When you agree, we keep a record of the words you were shown, their version and language, where you agreed, and when.

03How to opt in

Where each text program’s opt-in happens, with the exact words shown there:

  • Account texts (web sign-up): on Center’s sign-up at app.center.com/onboarding/business (the same sign-up step appears on a business’s Center booking page), you enter your mobile number and the button reads Text me my code. Directly above the button it says: “By tapping Text me my code, you agree to Center’s Terms and Privacy Policy. By tapping Text me my code, you also agree to receive recurring automated texts from Center about your requests and your account at this number. Consent isn’t a condition of purchase. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” Terms and Privacy Policy link to center.com/terms and center.com/privacy. See the screen.
  • Check-ins, suggestions and offers (optional, separate): after you enter your code, a second screen asks “Also get check-ins, suggestions and offers by text?” and says: “By tapping Yes, you agree to receive recurring automated marketing texts from Center at this number, including check-ins, suggestions and offers. Consent isn’t a condition of purchase. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” The buttons are Yes and No thanks; nothing is preselected. See the screen.
  • Texting Center first: if you text Center’s number first, Center replies to your message with: “Msg frequency varies; msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.” It asks you once whether you want check-ins, suggestions and offers; only a reply of YES enrolls you.
  • Job-request texts to businesses: a business gets a Center customer’s job request by text only after the business asks for it on a recorded call with Center (for example, “text me instead”), or after the business texts Center first. Every text starts “Center:” and ends “Reply STOP to opt out.” Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help.

Every program: Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

04Frequency and costs

Message frequency varies. How many texts you get depends on your account and bookings. Message and data rates may apply. Check your mobile plan for its rates.

05Opting out and help

Reply STOP to any text to opt out of that program. We also honor other reasonable ways of opting out, such as replying QUIT, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE or REVOKE, or telling us in writing that you no longer want texts. After you opt out, we send one text confirming it, and no more texts from that program unless you opt in again.

Help: help@center.com. Reply HELP to any text and we answer it.

06Delivery

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and device, and a text may be delayed or may not arrive, so don’t rely on texts for anything urgent.

07Your mobile information

Mobile numbers and opt-in data are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing. Text-message opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party except the providers that deliver our texts; otherwise we share your number only as described in When we share information. The Privacy Policy explains the rest.

08Businesses that text through Center

A business that uses Center to text its customers must:

  • have each recipient’s consent where the law requires it, and separate consent for marketing texts;
  • identify the business in its texts;
  • honor opt-outs right away, and never text someone who opted out unless they opt in again;
  • send marketing texts only at reasonable hours; and
  • not send unlawful, misleading, hateful or sexually explicit content, or content carriers prohibit.

Center may block, delay or stop texts that don’t meet these rules or carrier requirements.

09Changes

We may update these terms or a program. A change that adds a new purpose needs your new consent. You can always opt out as described above.
